Staff:
K. Scott Baker, MD, MS, Program Director
Dr. Scott Baker, director of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center Survivorship Program, says the concept of survivorship care is new enough to require definition.

Joli Bartell, Project Coordinator
Every day is a little different for Joli Bartell, project coordinator for Exercise & Thrive – the Survivorship Program’s exercise partnership with the YMCA.

Katherine Chang, Patient Care Coordinator
Chang is a veteran patient care coordinator at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. She splits her duties of performing intake for new patients among three clinics: the Survivorship Program and the Pancreas and Surgical Oncology clinics.

Emy Hammond, Program Assistant
Emy Hammond was interning at Seattle Children’s in 2007 when she first learned about the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center Survivorship Program. Right away she knew she’d found her calling.

Debra Loacker, Registered Nurse
Debra Loacker’s long career in oncology nursing did not include cancer survivorship until relatively recently. “What made me interested in survivorship is wanting to know what was the outcome of all the treatments we have given over the years, what happened to all those patients I met along the way,” she said. “I love that this job focuses on wellness and quality of life.”

Emily Jo Rajotte, Program Manager
Emily Jo says she’s always having to think outside the box – because when it comes to serving cancer survivors, there IS no box.

Karen Syrjala, PhDProgram Co-Director
Dr. Karen Syrjala says the best thing about working with cancer survivors is their eagerness to live life to the fullest.

Jessica Weeber, Research Assistant
Jessica Weeber has long been interested in research that examines the psychological and social impact of cancer, from diagnosis to treatment to life after cancer.

Theresa Wittenberg, Physician Assistant
Not surprisingly, interacting with patients is Theresa Wittenberg's favorite aspect of work. Spending extra time with those who’ve survived cancer is, for her, the most rewarding of all.
