Clinical indicators of a problem are defined, and appropriate evaluation, interventions and outcomes are described in this comprehensive, 233-page manual. The criteria are supplemented with detailed nutrition-assessment methods and tables. Drug-nutrient interactions, herbal-and-vitamin guidelines, and terminology pertinent to the hematopoietic cell transplant (HCT) population are included. A special section describes food safety, diet-and-water guidelines for the immunosuppressed HCT patient, plus diet guidelines for those with gastrointestinal graft-versus-host disease. Contains professional guidelines and patient education on herbal and appropriate vitamin supplementation for patients undergoing HCT.

Visitors Program

Cost: $250 per day per person + material fee of $40 for the purchase of Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation Nutrition Care Criteria, 2nd Edition, 2002.

An individualized experience is planned based on the visitor’s learning objectives and relevant background. Visitors are provided a comprehensive training manual that includes food-safety information, standard-practice guidelines, background articles, graft-versus-host disease information and gastrointestinal diets, nutrition cardex and charting forms, patient-education materials, department organization and job descriptions.
